Every Blount County school is receiving mini-grant funding from the Blount County Education Foundation for the 2026–2027 school year, part of a $100,000 investment in student learning.

The grants support educator-designed projects in literacy, technology, the arts, student wellness, and hands-on learning. Donations and foundation fundraising help provide resources and opportunities beyond traditional school funding.

“Investing $100,000 in mini-grants allows us to say yes to more great ideas happening in classrooms and schools across Blount County,” said Renee Poole, executive director of BCEF. “We’re incredibly grateful to our donors, sponsors, and community partners who make it possible to bring those ideas to life and provide opportunities that extend beyond traditional school funding.”

At Eagleton College and Career Academy, funded projects include Jacob Honeycutt’s “Unanchored Math: Using Mobile Casting to Enhance Formative Assessment,” Jill Emert’s choir classroom digital keyboard, Amy Lawson’s “Ready to Learn: Take What You Need Student Care Stations,” and Micah Sanders’ “Chomp Saw for S.T.E.M.” Additional ECCA grants support digital arts, learning through technology, and the Root and Rise Fund.

BCS thanks the foundation and its donors, sponsors, and community partners for supporting educators and creating new opportunities for students.

BCEF’s mini-grant program is supported through community contributions and events, including the Trot for Education and Bow Tie Gala.
